Greenhill School announced the appointment of Rhema Stradford-Dai as Head of Preschool, effective August 1, 2020.
Stradford-Dai served as the Principal of Aspire Public Schools, a charter school in Sacramento, California. She brings to Greenhill deep leadership experience, a strong background in early childhood education, and a love of young children.
Over her many years of experience as a teacher and an administrator, Stradford-Dai has had an immediate impact on every school she joins. In addition to Aspire, Stradford-Dai was the founding Head of School and Chief Administrative Officer of Empowerment Academy Charter School in New Jersey, where she offered instructional leadership for a new school serving more than 200 students in kindergarten through second grade. At Canarsie Ascend Charter School in New York, where Stradford-Dai served as Founding Dean of Instruction and Dean of Students, she managed the academic curriculum and supervised the teaching process, including offering meaningful feedback to faculty to help them grow in the classroom. She also created a positive and uplifting culture while implementing structures and processes to support the school’s ambitious academic goals.
Early in her career, Stradford-Dai spent five years teaching kindergarten and first grade in the New York area. She has also spent two years in China where she gained experience in independent schools as a kindergarten teacher. Stradford-Dai earned a B.A. in political science from Hofstra University, an M.S. and Ed.M. from Bank Street Graduate School (New York) in early childhood education and leadership for transformational change, respectively. She has started her doctoral work in transformational leadership.
