Step #1: Application
Submit an Online Application, including the $100 non-refundable application fee, by December 7, 2018. If this fee presents a hardship for your family, please contact Amy deBorst
PLEASE NOTE: Prekindergarten
applicants must be four (4) years old and toilet trained by September 1st of the year they would attend, with birthdates that fall between 9/1/14 and 8/31/15. Kindergarten
applicants must be five (5) years old by September 1st of the year they would attend, with birthdates that fall between 9/1/13 and 8/31/14.
Once your application is processed, which can take up to 72 hours, you will have access to your child’s Online Application Checklist.
Step #2: Group Observation
Please ensure that your child attends a group observation in January. You will receive confirmation of your child’s observation appointment by email within seven days of submitting your application.
Step #3: Teacher Evaluation
Once you have submitted your application, and it has been processed, you will have access to an online Teacher Evaluation Request, located on your child’s Online Application Checklist. Please enter your child’s teacher’s name and email on that form so that he or she can receive an electronic confidential Teacher Evaluation for your child. The teacher must complete the evaluation form and submit it to Greenhill School by January 22, 2019
It is the family's responsibility to see that Greenhill receives these forms before the deadline. If your child is not currently in school, you may indicate this on the application.
Step #4: CATS Testing
Register your child for CATS (Collaborative Academic Testing Services) testing. You may register your child online at www.catstexas.com
. CATS testing lasts about an hour and is administered to each child individually. The cost of this test is $290 and is not included in the Greenhill application fee. Parents will receive a summary of test results. Spots are limited, so please schedule your testing as soon as possible. CATS testing must be completed by February 2, 2019
. To be considered for a reduced test fee, please contact CATS directly.
Step #5: Progress Reports
Once you have submitted your application, and it has been processed, you will have access to an online Transcript/Grades/Progress Reports Request, located on your child’s Online Application Checklist. Please enter the name and email of the person at your child’s current school who is responsible for sending transcripts, grades, or progress reports; they will receive an email that contains a link to submit the documents directly to Greenhill. The deadline for receipt of these documents is January 22, 2019
. If your school does not have Transcripts, Progress Reports, or Grades, they can indicate that when they click the link.
Step #6: Parent/Guardian Meeting
Schedule a parent/guardian meeting, if applicable. Parent/guardian meetings are for new applicant families in grades PK-1 only. They allow the Admission Committee to gain a better understanding of both the family and the applicant. These meetings are conducted by an admission officer, last approximately 20 minutes, and involve only the parent(s) or guardian(s). We will not conduct parent meetings for current families or for reapplicants from a previous year. To select a meeting day and time, please register using the Parent/Guardian Meeting link on the Optional Steps section of your child’s Online Application Checklist (which will be available once your application is processed).
Step #7: Financial Aid
If you are considering applying for financial aid, please indicate this on the Financial Aid form on the Optional Steps section of your child’s Online Application Checklist. You must complete the formal Financial Aid Application
process by February 15, 2019
. Families of admitted students who apply by the deadline will receive their financial aid award at the same time as their admission decision, on March 8, 2019. While we are able to accept Financial Aid applications after this deadline, we cannot guarantee that funds will be available. If you have any questions about financial aid, please contact Amy deBorst
at (972) 628-5522.
Step #7: Admission Decision
Review your decision letter, which will be emailed after 4:00 p.m. on March 8, 2019
, to those applicants meeting the above deadlines. Decision types: Accepted, Wait Pool, and Non-Acceptance.
: These applicants are qualified to attend Greenhill and show promise of not only benefiting from, but also contributing to, the school. These students are offered enrollment positions. The school's offer must be accepted or declined by the date specified on the Enrollment Contract. A non-refundable tuition deposit must also be submitted at that time.
: These applicants are admissible but all available enrollment positions have been filled. Instead of being offered an enrollment position, a wait pool position is offered. Wait pools are NOT prioritized waiting lists; when and if an opening arises in a particular grade, the Director of Admission and the appropriate Division Head will determine which applicant in the wait pool can best fill that enrollment position. The wait pool does not carry over from year to year. Placement in the wait pool one year does not influence admission decisions for any following year in which the student reapplies to Greenhill. The wait pool is disbanded at the start of the school year and the admission process begins again for interested applicants.
: These candidates are not offered enrollment at Greenhill School.
