Step #1: Application

Submit an Online Application, including the $50 non-refundable application fee, by December 11, 2020. If this fee presents a hardship for your family, please contact Amy deBorst. Once your application is processed, which can take up to 72 hours, you will have access to your child’s Online Application Checklist.

PREKINDERGARTEN: Applicants must be four (4) years old and toilet trained by September 1st of the year they would attend, with birthdates that fall between 9/1/16 and 8/31/17.

KINDERGARTEN: Applicants must be five (5) years old by September 1st of the year they would attend, with birthdates that fall between 9/1/15 and 8/31/16.

Step #2: Parent-Submitted Video Screening

While we are unable to meet with your child in person this year, we have devised an assessment plan which includes your providing several videos of your child engaging in specific tasks. This will give us a sense of your child’s development and capabilities. There is no need to prepare for these videos. Applicant families will receive detailed instructions regarding the requirements of the video(s) on January 12, 2021. The video(s) will be due January 19, 2021.

Step #3: Teacher Evaluation

Once you have submitted your application, and it has been processed, you will have access to an online Teacher Evaluation Request, located on your child’s Online Application Checklist. Please enter your child’s teacher’s name and email on that form so that he or she can receive an electronic confidential Teacher Evaluation for your child. Please do this even if your child is in a day care setting. The teacher must complete the evaluation form and submit it to Greenhill School by January 26, 2021. It is the family's responsibility to see that Greenhill receives these forms before the deadline. Your child’s teacher may want to wait until closer to the deadline in order to get to know your child better. If your child is not currently in school or day care, you may indicate this on the application.

Step #4: CATS Testing

Register your child for CATS (Collaborative Academic Testing Services) testing. You may register your child online at www.catstexas.com. CATS testing lasts 30 to 60 minutes and is administered to each child individually. The cost of this test is $300 and is not included in the Greenhill application fee. Parents will receive a summary of test results from the CATS office. Spots are limited. Please schedule your testing as soon as you submit your Greenhill application. CATS testing must be completed by February 5, 2021. To be considered for a reduced test fee, please contact CATS directly; they will require proof that you have applied to Greenhill, so please be prepared to send them the confirmation email you received when you applied.

CATS has modified its procedures to make the testing experience as safe as possible. Please see their safety measures here: https://www.catstexas.com/covid19.

Due to Covid-19, we understand that some families may be hesitant to have their child complete testing in-person. Therefore, we are making CATS testing optional for the 2021-22 admission year. We will consider these results if the student completes the testing but will not penalize students whose families do not feel comfortable having their child take an in-person test.

Step #5: Transcripts/Grades/Progress Reports

Once you have submitted your application, and it has been processed, you will have access to an online Transcript/Grades/Progress Reports Request, located on your child’s Online Application Checklist. Please enter the name and email of the person at your child’s current school who is responsible for sending transcripts, grades, or progress reports; they will receive an email that contains a link to submit the documents directly to Greenhill. The deadline for receipt of these documents is January 26, 2021. If your school or daycare does not have Transcripts, Progress Reports, or Grades, they can indicate that when they click the link.

Step #6: Virtual Parent/Guardian Meeting

Schedule a virtual parent/guardian meeting, if applicable. Parent/guardian meetings are for new applicant families in grades PK-1 only. They allow the Admission Committee to gain a better understanding of both the family and the applicant and provide parents/guardians an opportunity to ask questions of a member of the admission team. These meetings are conducted by an admission officer, last approximately 20 minutes, and involve only the parent(s) or guardian(s). We will not conduct parent meetings for current families or for reapplicants from a previous year. To select a meeting day and time, please register using the Parent/Guardian Meeting link on the Optional Steps section of your child’s Online Application Checklist (which will be available once your application is processed).

Step #7: Financial Aid

If you are considering applying for financial aid, please indicate this on the Financial Aid form on the Optional Steps section of your child’s Online Application Checklist. You must complete the formal Financial Aid Application process by February 15, 2021. Families of admitted students who apply by the deadline will receive their financial aid award at the same time as their admission decision, on March 12, 2021. While we are able to accept Financial Aid applications after this deadline, we cannot guarantee that funds will be available. If you have any questions about financial aid, please contact Amy deBorst at (972) 628-5522.

Step #8: Admission Decision

Review your decision letter, which will be emailed after 4:00 pm on March 12, 2021, to those applicants meeting the above deadlines. Decision types: Accepted, Wait Pool, and Non-Acceptance.

ACCEPTED: These applicants are qualified to attend Greenhill and show promise of not only benefiting from, but also contributing to, the school. These students are offered enrollment positions. The school's offer must be accepted or declined by the date specified on the Enrollment Contract. A non-refundable tuition deposit must also be submitted at that time.

WAIT POOL: These applicants are admissible but all available enrollment positions have been filled. Instead of being offered an enrollment position, a wait pool position is offered. Wait pools are NOT prioritized waiting lists; when and if an opening arises in a particular grade, the Director of Admission and the appropriate Division Head will determine which applicant in the wait pool can best fill that enrollment position. The wait pool does not carry over from year to year. Placement in the wait pool one year does not influence admission decisions for any following year in which the student reapplies to Greenhill. The wait pool is disbanded at the start of the school year and the admission process begins again for interested applicants.

NON-ACCEPTANCE: These candidates are not offered enrollment at Greenhill School.

Non-Discrimination Policy
