Admission Announcement

Greenhill's campus is currently closed. We will update this page with information about ways to get to know us better virtually in the coming months. To see Greenhill’s plans for reopening in the fall, please see our Roadmap to Reopening site.
In the meantime, our office is working remotely. Please feel free to contact us by email at or by phone at (972) 628-5910. We are available to answer your questions and tell you more about our programs and community.
Our online application and updates about our application process will be available later this summer.

Step #1: Application

Submit an Online Application, including the $175 non-refundable application fee by January 10, 2020. If this fee presents a hardship for your family, please contact Amy deBorst. Once your application is processed, which can take up to 72 hours, you will have access to your child’s Online Application Checklist.
PLEASE NOTE: Please contact the Admission Office before applying to 11th or 12th grade.

Step #2: Teacher Evaluation

Once you have submitted your application, and it has been processed, you will have access to online Teacher Evaluation Requests for both math and English teachers on your child’s Online Application Checklist. Please enter your child’s math and English teachers' names and emails onto those forms. They will receive electronic confidential Teacher Evaluations for your child, which must be completed and submitted to Greenhill School by January 22, 2020. It is the family's responsibility to see that Greenhill receives these forms before the deadline.

Step #3: Admission Testing

Complete ISEE testing at Greenhill, or another local private school, by February 11, 2020. Click here to register for the ISEE Test and to learn more information concerning the ISEE Exam. You must be registered at least three weeks prior to the test date. For more information about what to expect on the ISEE exam, please click here.
Greenhill participates in a testing consortium with Dallas area independent schools. Students testing for grades 5-12 only have to take the entrance exam at one of these schools and results will be sent to the schools you designate. ERB charges additional fees for late registration and for telephone registration. For assistance in registering for the ISEE, you may call (800) 446-0320. All ISEE fees are in addition to Greenhill's application fee.

Step #4: Transcript/Progress Reports

Once you have submitted your application, and it has been processed, you will have access to an online Transcript/Grades/Progress Reports Request, located on your child’s Online Application Checklist. Please enter the name and email of the person at your child’s current school who is responsible for sending transcripts, grades, or progress reports; they will receive an email that contains a link to submit the documents directly to Greenhill. Transcripts may consist of progress reports, test results, and letter or numeric grades. The deadline for receipt of these documents is January 22, 2020.

Step #5: Candidate Statement

Each student applying to grades 5 to 12 must complete the Candidate Statement page on the Online Application Checklist by January 22, 2020. CLICK HERE for a preview of the questions.

Step #6: Interview & Recommended Full-Day Visit

All applicants to grades 5 to 12 are required to complete an interview with Greenhill staff. It is recommended that students applying to Greenhill for the first time visit campus for a Shadow Visit day, during which they can complete their required interview. Note: Due to scheduling constraints, students who completed a Shadow Visit for 5th, 7th or 9th grade last year should sign up for an Interview Only appointment this year.
Use the Interview and Visit Form in your student’s Online Application Checklist (which will be available upon submission of the Application) to choose a date for either of these options. In addition to allowing you to choose a date for your student’s Shadow Visit or Interview Only appointments, the form asks questions about the applicant’s interests so that we may learn more about them (and match them with an appropriate host, if needed). Please have your student with you when you complete that form.
There are two options:
1. FULL-DAY SHADOW VISIT (highly recommended for first-time applicants to Greenhill): A full-day shadow visit allows your child to attend classes in the grade to which they are applying. Your child will be matched with a current student who will serve as his or her host during the day. Their interview will be conducted during the course of the day and lunch will be provided. Please note that in most cases this visit is an unexcused absence from your child’s current school. Visits can be scheduled using the Interview and Visit Form in your child’s Online Application Checklist, and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. You will receive an initial confirmation email upon registering for a shadow visit date. A formal confirmation email with further details will be sent closer to your child’s visit.
2. INTERVIEW ONLY: If a Full-Day visit is not possible or the student attended a Greenhill Shadow Visit last year, applicants must schedule a 20-minute Interview Only appointment on Saturday, January 25, 2020 or Saturday, February 1, 2020, 9:00 am to 12:30 pm. If you are applying from out of town, please contact John Thompson at (972) 628-5518 to arrange your interview.
To schedule an Interview Only visit, please choose one of the two dates when completing the Interview and Visit Form on your child’s Online Application Checklist. Interviews will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Upon submission of that form, you will receive a confirmation email. A formal confirmation email, which includes information about a specific time slot and details about the visit will be sent once the exact interview time is scheduled.
PLEASE NOTE: Students may not interview and take the ISEE Test on the same Saturday, nor may they have both a Full-Day Shadow Visit and an Interview Only visit, as students visiting Greenhill for the day will have an interview while they are on campus. If you have any questions about visits or interviews, please contact John Thompson at (972) 628-5518.

Step #7: Financial Aid

If you are considering applying for financial aid, please indicate this on the Financial Aid form on the Optional Steps section of your child’s Online Application Checklist. You must complete the formal Financial Aid Application process by February 15, 2020. Families of admitted students who apply by the deadline will receive their financial aid award at the same time as their admission decision, on March 13, 2020. While we are able to accept Financial Aid applications after this deadline, we cannot guarantee that funds will be available. If you have any questions about financial aid, please contact Amy deBorst at (972) 628-5522.

Step #8: Admission Decision

Review your decision letter, which will be emailed after 4:00 pm on March 13, 2020, to those applicants meeting the above deadlines. All applications received after the January 10, 2020, deadline will be reviewed on a rolling admission basis. Decision types: Accepted, Wait Pool, Non-Acceptance.
ACCEPTED: These applicants are qualified to attend Greenhill and show promise of not only benefiting from, but also contributing to, the school. These students are offered enrollment positions. The school's offer must be accepted or declined by the date specified on the Enrollment Contract. A non-refundable tuition deposit must also be submitted at that time.
WAIT POOL: These applicants are admissible but all available enrollment positions have been filled. Instead of being offered an enrollment position, a wait pool position is offered. Wait pools are NOT prioritized waiting lists; when and if an opening arises in a particular grade, the Director of Admission and the appropriate Division Head will determine which applicant in the wait pool can best fill that enrollment position. The wait pool does not carry over from year to year. Placement in the wait pool one year does not influence admission decisions for any following year in which the student reapplies to Greenhill. The wait pool is disbanded at the start of the school year and the admission process begins again for interested applicants.
NON-ACCEPTANCE: These candidates are not offered enrollment at Greenhill School.

Non-Discrimination Policy
