|At Greenhill, we recognize the importance of Physical Education (PE) and Athletics as one component of a well-balanced education.
As a result, our athletics curriculum starts in Lower School PE classes, where we encourage children to be active and excited about movement. As students transition to Middle School they receive a broad introduction to a range of team and individual sports in fifth and sixth grades, and starting in seventh grade, they have the opportunity to join one of Greenhill’s competitive athletics teams. In Upper School, students either gain deeper sport-specific skills as members of Greenhill Junior Varsity and Varsity athletic teams, or fulfill requirements with PE classes.
Our goal is to instill an enthusiasm for athletic pursuits in Lower School, build specific skill sets in Middle School, and provide our Upper School student athletes with a Division I-quality athletics experience. Ultimately, we hope that all of our students leave Greenhill with an understanding of the importance of teamwork, and an appreciation of the role that fitness and wellness play in their lives.
We encourage you to read more about physical education and athletics philosophies for each division – Lower, Middle and Upper – on the following pages.
