The Digital Art classes primarily use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator as our media to create and build images. Even though we are using a digital interface, we talk about the works using the same language as if we were drawing with charcoal or painting with oils. Creativity and personal vision are prized in these classes. In the beginning classes the emphasis is on getting comfortable with the programs. A student can move up during their years in Upper School to the yearlong A.P. digital art curriculum which focuses on the young artist’s voice coming through in their work. We build images using scanned drawings and objects, digital pictures, open domain images, and shapes built within the computer. We have shown our large scale images at the DMA and Barney’s New York in Northpark Mall.
