Greenhill Video Production has four levels. The courses start in 7th and 8th grades with the Middle School Video Production classes. The concentration in this level is on teamwork. The groups learn to tell a story visually. Each group writes, casts, acts, directs, produces, edits, and scores a short film each trimester. We also watch films to begin learning the language of film. This continues into Upper School with the Beginning Video Production classes. This is a prerequisite for the Advanced Video Production classes. This year there are 35 AVP students who work most of the school year together. They work on large projects with the whole group, small group projects, and short individual films. AVP students are in the 10th through 12th grades. If a rising senior student wishes she or he can propose a yearlong capstone project. Last year a student produced a 30 minute short as his capstone project. This year a student is spending the year writing and producing scores for films as his capstone project. We had student films win awards and accepted to the South by Southwest Film Festival, the AFI Dallas Film Festival, The 24 hr. Video Race, The Dallas Video Festival, the 827 HS Film Festival, among others. |
