Southwest Preparatory Conference Announces Fall Award Winners
The Southwest Preparatory Conference announced that 17 Greenhill student-athletes were honored with all-conference recognition for their efforts during the 2016 fall season.
Girls Volleyball The Greenhill girls volleyball team captured its second straight SPC Championship and had three student-athletes earn all-conference recognition. Senior Ellen Margaret Andrews notched all-conference honors for the third straight season while junior Michal Mathis earned all-conference honors for the second time in her career. Junior Allie Frymire became a first-time award winner. The Hornets concluded the season with a 31-7 overall record.
Boys Volleyball Junior Barrett Winchell was honored with all-conference recognition for the second time in his career while sophomore Anaias Hayes was selected for the first time. The Greenhill duo guided the Hornets to a 25-5 overall record and a second-place finish at the SPC Fall Championships.
Football The Greenhill football team concluded its 2016 season with an 8-2 record and had four all-conference award winners, which were both the most for the program since the early-2000s. Senior Konnell Woods and junior Kassidy Woods were both honored for the second time in their careers while senior Michael Simpson and Xavier Bryant both earned all-conference recognition for the first time.
Field Hockey The Greenhill field hockey team finished the season with a 7-11-1 overall record and a fifth-place finish at the SPC Fall Championships under first-year head coach Brittany Johnson '09. Senior Mia Hirsch and junior Isabelle Thompson both earned all-conference honors for the first time in their careers.
Girls Cross Country The Greenhill girls cross country team had four all-conference honorees this past season, which were the most for the program since the 2006 season. Senior Chandler Crates and junior Cameron Crates were both honored for the second time in their careers while freshmen Maddie Hatfield and Kaiti Ness became first-time award winners. The Hornets finished second overall this past season at the SPC Fall Championships.
Boys Cross Country Juniors Daniel Brickman and Matthew Zweig both earned all-conference honors after leading the Hornets to a fifth-place showing at the SPC Fall Championships. This was the second straight season that Brickman has been awarded with All-SPC laurels.
