Greenhill Seniors Earn National Merit Scholarship Program Honors
Greenhill School proudly announces that the National Merit Scholarship Program has recognized 19 students from the Class of 2017. The National Merit Scholarship Program recognizes students that have demonstrated exceptional academic promise based on the 2015 PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
In addition, students were also recognized in two categories - National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists and National Hispanic Scholars - for their excellent results on the PSAT last school year. To reach Semifinalist status, students' scores were among the top 16,000 in the nation, and they have been invited to continue in the national competition for scholarships awarded by various college and universities as well as the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. This past Friday, Greenhill also honored members of the senior class at its annual US Honors Assembly. Emily Budarapu was honored with the Charles Hodge Jones Memorial Award, which is presented to the student with the highest grade point average for the past school year. The namesake of the award was considered one of the finest educators in the nation when he came to Greenhill after serving as the Chair of the Classics Department at Princeton University as well as the headmaster of two different independent schools in the Northeast. His presence at Greenhill added greatly to the academic credibility of the School during its earliest years.
In addition, Greenhill honored the students who will be inducted into the Cum Laude Society for being in the top 10% of their class at the end of their junior year, based on their cumulative GPA. Congratulations to these students for their outstanding achievements!
