Greenhill Fourth Grade Class Wins Aluminum Can Challenge

The Greenhill fourth grade class won the state title in a national recycling contest: the Great American Can Roundup School Challenge. The class won the Aluminum Can Challenge for Texas and finished ninth overall among all schools in the country.
Can Manufacturers Institute (CMI), sponsored the contest which drew participation of more than 1,000 schools nationwide and more than half a million students.
Greenhill's total of 34,720 pounds of aluminum cans topped the Texas Leaderboard in the sixth annual Great American Round-Up School Challenge and averaged 28.93 pounds of aluminum cans per student. For their efforts, Greenhill will receive a check for $1,000. This past school year, schools in the competition recycled an impressive 139,063 pounds of beverage cans nationwide.
