Southwest Preparatory Conference Announces Spring Awards

The Southwest Preparatory Conference announced on Monday that Greenhill School had 28 student-athletes honored with spring all-conference recognition.
 
The Greenhill girls track and field team - who captured its third consecutive SPC title - led all spring programs with eight all-conference performers. Senior Jernaya Sharp earned multiple all-conference honors for the fourth consecutive year as the Notre Dame-signee captured individuals titles in the 100-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, long jump and triple jump.
 
Junior Ellen Margaret Andrews captured the conference title in the 400-meter dash to go along with the pole vault en route to earning multiple all-conference citations for the third straight season. In addition, senior Amelia Jones - who will continue her track and field career at Middlebury College - earned all-conference honors for the third straight season in the pole vault. The Hornets had multiple first-time award winners in sophomores Sofia Martin and Jessica Pugh along with freshmen Katy Goodwin, Megan Olomu and Caroline Simpson.
 
The Greenhill boys tennis team concluded its 2016 spring season with a 14-0-1 record to go along with its fourth consecutive SPC conference crown. Junior Nate Eazor and sophomore Rishi Vas each earned all-conference honors for the second time in their careers while freshman Maxim Motlagh became a first-time all-conference recipient.
 
The Greenhill boys track and field team finished fourth overall this past season at the SPC Championships and had seven student-athletes earn all-conference honors. Senior Justin Estrada - who will continue his track career at Claremont McKenna College - earned all-conference honors for the fourth consecutive season. In addition, junior Douglass Smith captured the individual title in the long jump and earned all-conference honors for the third straight season. Sophomore Antonio Lapeyrolerie earned all-conference laurels for the second straight season and was joined by first-time award winners juniors Bryson Houston (who won the 100-meter dash) and Konnell Woods along with sophomores Daniel Brickman and Kassidy Woods.
 
Senior Madhuri Deo earned all-conference honors for the third straight season while freshman Daniela Perales became a first-time award winner for the girls tennis team. The Hornets finished the season with a 10-6-2 overall record to go along with a fifth-place finish at the SPC Championships.
 
Sophomore Hailey Wertheril became a two-time all-conference award recipient, and Elaine Pennington earned all-conference honors for the first time in her career for the softball program. The Hornets earned a fifth-place finish at the SPC Championships and concluded the season with a 10-5-1 overall record.
 
Senior Luke Wagner earned all-conference honors for the fourth straight season for the boys lacrosse team and will continue his career at SUNY-Cortland. Sophomore Mason Marano earned all-conference honors for the first time in his career. The Hornets concluded the 2016 spring campaign with a 7-10 overall record.
 
Sophomore Gabrielle Coben earned all-conference honors for the second straight season and was joined by first-time award winner sophomore Brooke Allen. The Hornets finished the season with a 6-11 overall record under first-year head coach Stephanie Finley.
 
Senior Evan Haynes - who finished eighth overall at the SPC Championships - earned all-conference honors for the second time in his golf career. As a team, the Hornets finished sixth overall at the SPC Championships.
 
Dan O'Brien earned all-conference honors for the first time in his career as the senior pitcher led the Hornets to a 9-8 overall record under first-year head coach Troy Haugen.
