Boys Finish First; Girls Place Third at Greenhill Relays

The Greenhill boys track and field team notched a first-place showing while the girls program finished third overall at the season-opening Greenhill Relays on Saturday.
 
The Hornets claimed the meet championship with 206 team points while St. Mark's School of Texas (189), Shelton School (58), Prince of Peace Christian School (55) and Cistercian Prep School (44) rounded out the top-five.
 
Bryston Houston claimed his first individual title of the season after finishing first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.19. Senior Justin Estrada finished secondo overall in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.26. Junior Konnell Woods finished first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.61 to go along with a second-place showing in the 300-meter hurdles (45.50). Daniel Brickman notched a second-place showing in the 3,200-meter race with a time of 10:34.06.
 
Antonio Lapeyrolerie finished first in the high jump after clearing a height of 5-10 while teammate Kassidy Woods finished second in both the high jump (5-8) and long jump (20-7). In the pole vault, the Hornets had the top-three finishers in Grant Morgan (10-6), Hartley McGuire (9-6) and Andrew Estrada (9-0). Douglass Smith finished third overall with a distance of 20-1 in the long jump. Senior Jacob Pugh finished second in the shot put (43-10.75) and third overall in the discus (103-11).
 
The Hornets had three relay teams that finished first overall in the 4x100-meter relay (44.33), 4x200-meter relay (1:35.13) and 4x400-meter relay (3:32.89). The distance medley team finished second with a time of 11:37.13, and the 4x800-meter relay team finished fourth overall with a time of 8:59.37.
 
Hockaday School captured the girls team title with a total of 177 points while Ursuline Academy (163), Greenhill (145), Prince of Peace Christian School (71) and H.S.A.A. (32) rounded out the top-five.
 
Jernaya Sharp captured three individual titles in the 100-meter dash (12.06), 100-meter hurdles (14.35) and long jump (17-9.5). Katy Goodwin recorded a trio of top-five finishes after placing third in the pole vault (10-0) and fourth in both the 100-meter hurdles (18.27) and high jump (4-6). Madison Cook finished fourth overall in the 3,200-meter race with a time of 12:42.26.
 
Amelia Jones recorded a second-place showing ih the pole vault after clearing a height of 10-6 while Ellen Margaret Andrews finished fifth overall with a height of 8-6. Jessica Pugh notched a pair of top-five showings in the shot put (29-7.5) and discus (81-4).
 
The 4x400-meter relay team finished first overall with a time of 4:08.19 while 4x200-meter relay team finished third with a time of 1:51.53. The 4x800-meter relay finished third with a time of 11:17.58, and the distance medley team finished fifth overall with a time of 14:44.16.
