The Greenhill boys and girls athletics programs concluded the 2015-16 SPC Winter Championships with two third-place showings, two fifth-place finishes and a pair of swimming champions this past weekend in Houston.
Girls Soccer The Greenhill girls soccer team posted a third-place showing at the 2015-16 SPC Winter Championships after recording a 2-1 record in Houston. The Hornets opened up action on Friday with a 4-0 victory over Kinkaid School before falling to St. Stephen's Episcopal School, 2-1, in the nightcap. On Saturday morning, the Hornets posted a 4-3 victory over Hockaday School to claim third-place honors. The Hornets concluded their 2015-16 season with a 16-5 overall record.
Girls Basketball The Greenhill girls basketball team notched bronze medal honors at the 2015-16 SPC Winter Championships after posting a 2-1 record in Houston. The Hornets - who finished the season with a 24-6 overall record - defeated St. Stephen's Episcopal School, 54-52, in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, the Hornets suffered a 65-54 setback to Kinkaid School before coming back on Saturday morning to collect a 65-50 victory over Trinity Valley School.
Boys Basketball The Greenhill boys basketball team notched a 2-1 record in Houston en route to finishing fifth overall at the 2015-16 SPC Winter Championships. The Hornets defeated Saint Mary's Hall, 54-52, on Thursday evening then fell to St. Stephen's Episcopal School, 64-51, in the quarterfinals. The Hornets - who concluded the season with a 19-11 overall record - returned on Saturday morning to post a 78-69 victory over Kinkaid School.
Boys Soccer The Greenhill boys soccer team finished fifth overall at the 2015-16 SPC Winter Championships in Houston following a 1-1 performance in the tournament. The Hornets - who finished the season with an 11-5-4 overall record - fell to St. Mark's School of Texas, 2-1, in the quarterfinals before defeating St. Stephen's Episcopal School by a 2-1 margin on Saturday.
Girls Swimming The Greenhill girls swimming team finished seventh overall with a total of 43 team points at the 2015-16 SPC Winter Championships at the Conroe ISD Natatorium.
Freshman Erica Yang collected her first SPC crown after winning the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:16.35. Yang also finished second ovearll in the 100-yard butterfly after posting a time of 1:00.53.
The Greenhill freshman teamed up with seniors Megan Marshall, Sophia Steckler and Lauren Baron to finished fourth overall in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:02.82. Greenhill freshman Maggie Gibson finished fourth overall with a time of 5:50.14 in the 500-yard freestyle.
Boys Swimming The Greenhill boys swimming team finished ninth overall with a total of 17 team points at the 2015-16 SPC Winter Championships at the Conroe ISD Natatorium.
Senior Nic Suarez captured the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 218.75 while also finished fifth overall in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:02.42.
