Step #1: Application
Submit an online application
, including a Family Statement, a Student Questionnaire and Essay, an Applicant Interest/Activities Form and $175 application fee by January 6, 2017
. Please note that your application fees are non-refundable.
Step #2: Teacher Evaluation
Provide Greenhill School with your child's current English and Math teachers' names and work email addresses in the online application. Greenhill School will use this information to send an online Confidential Teacher Evaluation form to your child's current teachers. The English and Math Teacher Evaluation forms must be completed and submitted to Greenhill School by January 20, 2017
. All evaluation forms must be sent directly to Greenhill from the applicant’s current teacher. The Admission Office will not accept forms sent by parents. It is the family's responsibility to see that Greenhill receives these forms before the deadline.
Step #3: Admission Testing
Complete ISEE testing at Greenhill, or another local private school, by February 15, 2017
to register for the ISEE Test. You must be registered at least three weeks prior to the test date. CLICK HERE
to learn more about the ISEE Exam.
Greenhill participates in a testing consortium with Dallas area independent schools. Students testing for grades 5-12 only have to take the entrance exam at one of these schools and results will be sent to the schools you designate. ERB charges additional fees for late registration and for telephone registration. For assistance in registering for the ISEE, you may call (800) 446-0320. All ISEE fees are in addition to Greenhill's application fee.
Step #4: Transcript/Progress Reports
Submit the Transcript/Progress Report Release Form to the applicant's current school. The Official Transcript must be sent directly to Greenhill from the applicant’s current school. It is the family's responsibility to see that Greenhill receives these by January 20, 2017
. Transcripts may consist of progress reports, test results and letter or numeric grades.
Step #5: Interview & Recommended Full-Day Visit
The Admission office will schedule visit dates and/or interviews upon receipt of application forms.
There are two options:
1. Full-Day Visit (highly recommended):
A full-day visit allows your child to attend the classes in the grade to which they are applying. Your child will be matched with a current student who will serve as his or her host during the day. Their interview will be conducted during the course of the day and lunch will be provided. Please note that in most cases, this visit is an unexcused absence from your child’s current school.
Upon receipt of your application, you will receive a link to schedule your student’s day-long shadow visit. Visit dates will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Students are only permitted to visit the grade to which they are applying.
2. Interview Only:
If a Full-Day visit is not possible, students must schedule a 20-minute Interview Only appointment on Saturday, January 21, 2017
or Saturday, January 28, 2017
, 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
To schedule an Interview Only visit, please choose one of the two dates listed on the application. Interviews will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Please Note: Students may not interview and take the ISEE Test on the same Saturday, nor may they have both a Full-Day Shadow Visit and an Interview Only visit, as students visiting Greenhill for the day will have an interview while they are on campus. If you have any questions about visits or interviews, please contact John Thompson
Step #6: Financial Aid
If applying for financial aid, complete the Financial Aid Application
by February 15, 2017
. Financial aid decisions will be sent with admission decisions on March 10, 2017
. This new deadline is a change from previous years. While we are able to accept Financial Aid applications after this deadline, we cannot guarantee that funds will be available. Families of admitted students who apply by the deadline will now receive their financial aid award at the same time as their admission decision. If you have any questions about financial aid, please contact Amy deBorst
at (972) 628-5522.
Step #7: Admission Decision
Review your decision letter, which will be emailed after 4:00 p.m. on March 10, 2017
, to those applicants meeting the above deadlines. All applications received after the January 6, 2017
, deadline will be reviewed on a rolling admission basis. Decision types: Accepted, Waitpool, Non-acceptance.
These applicants are qualified to attend Greenhill and show promise of not only benefiting from, but also contributing to, the school. These students are offered enrollment positions. The school's offer must be accepted or declined by the date specified on the Enrollment Contract. A non-refundable tuition deposit must also be submitted at that time.
These applicants are admissible but all available enrollment positions have been filled. Instead of being offered an enrollment position, a waitpool position is offered. Waitpools are NOT prioritized waiting lists; when and if an opening arises in a particular grade, the Director of Admission and the appropriate Division Head will determine which applicant in the waitpool can best fill that enrollment position. The waitpool does not carry over from year to year. Placement in the waitpool one year does not influence admission decisions for any following year in which the student reapplies to Greenhill. The waitpool is disbanded at the start of the school year and the admission process begins again for interested applicants.
These candidates are not offered enrollment at Greenhill School.
