Lower School

We honor and nurture the whole child here, and it shows
Our students grow so much over the course of this rich educational stage.

Get Inspired Early

We believe that students learn best when they’re nurtured, engaged and valued for who they are. That’s why everything we do in Lower School—from literacy to lunchtime—is carefully designed to cultivate individual growth and inspire joyful learning.

“We honor and nurture the whole child here, and it shows. Our students grow so much over the course of this rich educational stage. They love coming to school every day.” - Michael Simpson, Head of Lower School

Learning to Unearth the Why

First graders turning the classroom into a forest. Second graders dissecting owl pellets. Third graders simulating immigration to Ellis Island. Fourth graders playing the Stock Market in math class. That’s what learning looks like at Greenhill Lower School.

Led by experienced and passionate teachers, classroom activities challenge students with different skill sets and learning styles to progress to the next level of thinking - not just memorize facts. In this way, Lower School instills social and academic skills that support a lifetime of learning and discovery. By the time students complete fourth grade, they’re very prepared - and excited - to take on Middle School!
