Hornet Sports Report - September 26, 2016

Cross Country
The Greenhill boys and girls cross country teams each posted outstanding results this past weekend at the Lovejoy Cross Country Fall Festival held at Myers Park in McKinney on Saturday morning.
 
Freshman Maddie Hatfield led the girls team with a second-place showing after posting a time of 19:34.78 in the 5,000-meter race while junior Cameron Crates finished fourth overall with a time of 20:07.53. Freshman Kaiti Ness finished fifth overall with a time of 20:18.58, and sophomore Kyra Moran posted a time of 21:08.69 en route to finishing 15th overall.
 
Junior Daniel Brickman led the boys cross country team with a fourth-place showing after crossing the end line at the 16:44.23 mark. Junior Matthew Zweig finished seventh overall with a time of 17:00.53 while senior Hudson Fernandes finished 34th overall with a time of 17:47.40. Sophomore Jacob Shepherd finished 40th overall with a time of 17:53.69.
 
Girls Volleyball
The Greenhill girls volleyball team defeated Frisco Lebanon High School in straight sets (25-20, 25-21, 26-24) on Friday afternoon to improve to 19-7 overall.
 
Senior Ellen Margaret Andrews led the Hornets with 13 kills to go along with nine digs and two service aces while Allie Frymire dished out a match-high 19 assists while recording four digs, three service aces and two kills. Junior Michal Mathis notched 11 digs, nine kills and two service aces in the match while Jessica Pugh led the Hornets with 12 digs while chipping in with three kills and two service aces. Freshman Natalie Neiman collected six kills in the contest.
