Building Community Campaign Exceeds Fundraising Goal!

As we open the new school year and celebrate our 67th Founders’ Day next week, I am delighted to share that over the course of the summer, we received two significant gifts that have propelled us to the conclusion of the Building Community Campaign. With these wonderful gifts, we have surpassed the $52.5 million goal by raising an extraordinary $54.5 million from our community!

Nancy A. Nasher and David J. Haemisegger generously pledged an additional $2 million bringing their total gift to $3 million. Thanks to their generosity, the Studio Theater will be renamed The Nancy A. Nasher and David J. Haemisegger Family Studio Theater in honor of David Nasher Haemisegger ’18.

Additionally, The Marshall Heritage Foundation has made an indelible mark in Greenhill’s history by donating an additional $10 million, bringing total contributions to the Building Community Campaign by both the Foundation and Campaign Chair, E. Pierce Marshall, Jr. ’86, individually, to an unprecedented $21,225,000 – the single largest contribution in Greenhill School’s history. It is only fitting that the pinnacle of this campaign, the Marshall Family Performing Arts Center, with its magnificent performance spaces and state of the art video production facilities, bears the name of this visionary family.

The historic generosity of these two gifts, as well as lead gifts from Catherine and Will Rose ’85, Deedie and the late Rusty Rose, Nancy and Clint Carlson, the Weiner Family, the Weinreb Family, and gifts from more than 500 Greenhill families raised a total of $54.5 million, exceeding our campaign goal by $2 million!

A five-year endeavor under the leadership of Board Chairs Karla Barber, Peter Kraus and Will Rose ’85, the Building Community Campaign transformed the Greenhill campus with the spectacular 54,000 square foot Marshall Family Performing Arts Center, modern dining facilities, the Jennifer Goodnight Maalouf ’86 and JJJ Frankel Fields and pavilion, expanded parking, and additional endowment. We designed this campaign to complete our campus, and over the past year, we have watched it transform the daily life for all Greenhill students. The impact on our endowment is significant as well, as it will grow to over $50 million in the next few years.

Once again, the Greenhill community has come together to accomplish goals that will have a lasting impact on our students, faculty and staff, parents, alumni and friends for generations to come. Thank you to everyone who played a role in the campaign and to our community for allowing us to continue to fulfill Bernard Fulton’s vision.

We will share more about the wide-reaching impact of the Building Community Campaign in the fall 2016 issue of The Hill along with a complete list of donors to this effort.

Please join me in this significant celebration for Greenhill!

Best Regards,

Scott Griggs
