Sophomore Honored with Prudential Spirit of Community Award

Greenhill sophomore Ariana Luterman has been honored by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, a nationwide program honoring young people for outstanding acts of volunteerism, as one of Texas' top two youth volunteers of 2016.

Luterman - who created Team Ariana - has raised more than $80,000 to benefit Vogel Alcove, a childcaren center that provides free early development services for homeless children. The Greenhill sophomore has raised the money by combining her passion for competitive triathlon racing with her desire to help homeless children.

As a State Honoree, Luterman will receive a $1,000 award, an engraved silver medallion and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington D.C. for a series of national recognition events. In addition, Luterman has also qualified for the President's Volunteer Service Award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to service their communities and country. The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards is currently in its 21st year and is conducted by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).
