Hornets Set to Compete at Texas Meet of Champions

Greenhill juniors Amelia Jones and Jernaya Sharp will compete this weekend at the inaugural Texas Meet of Champions held at the new Clyde Hart Track Stadium on the campus of Baylor University in Waco.
 
This past season, Sharp earned all-conference accolades in six events (100-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, long jump, triple jump, 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay) and was crowned conference champion in the 100-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles and long jump. The Greenhill junior will compete at the Meet of Champions in these three events.
 
A two-time all-conference performer, Jones captured the pole vault for the first time in her career at the 2015 SPC Spring Championships after clearing a height of 10-5. The previous season, Jones finished third overall in the pole vault at the conference championships. The Greenhill junior will compete in the pole vaulat the Meet of Champions.
 
The inaugural meet will feature 17 events from the top student-athletes around the State of Texas with a single mission to crown a true state champion in each event. The conferences featured include the SPC (Southwest Preparatory Conference), TAPPS (Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools), UIL (University Interscholastic League), HSAA (Home School Athletic Association) and TCAF (Texas Christian Athletic Fellowship).
