Greenhill Coach Set to Compete at FINA Master's Championships

Greenhill head boys and girls swimming coach Jim Montgomery will compete at the 15th Annual FINA World Master's Championships in Montreal, Canada, on August 8.

Montgomery will return to compete in Montreal, which was site of the 1976 Winter Olympics, where he captured a pair of gold medals and one bronze medal. Montgomery was also the first man to ever break 50 seconds in the 100-meter freestyle. One of the most dominant swimmers in United States history, Montgomery notched a stellar swimming career that included 10 then-world records at the World Championships to go along with 14 titles at the World and National Championships in the Master Division. During his collegiate career at the University of Indiana, Montgomery captured seven NCAA national championships.

Montgomery was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1986 as an Honor Swimmer. In 2002, Montgomery earned another prestigious award after being selected as the United States Masters Swimming Coach of the Year.
