All the world’s a stage...eliza
Alum wins Last Comic Standing

by Erin Goldman, Managing Editor

Iliza Shlesinger ’01 was named NBC’s Last Comic Standing 6 winner on Aug. 7. 2008. After graduating from Emerson College, Iliza moved to Los Angeles, California and pursued her career for three years before auditioning for Last Comic Standing.

Iliza nearly missed her preliminary audition due to entertaining the troops overseas. She returned back to the United States in time for the San Francisco auditions on Feb. 29 where she, along with future finalist Jeff Dye, advanced to the semi-finals. "I just set small goals for myself," she said. "Each time more and more people are eliminated, it’s a madhouse all day and you have to stick around and wait to perform—it’s nerve wracking because you want to do a great joke but you aren’t sure if you should save it for if you get further in the competition."read more

editorial policy

The Evergreen is a student-run newspaper serving the Greenhill Community. Its goal is to help the local community interpret campus, local, national, and international events. It serves as a forum for expression and change. The Evergreen aims to fulfill this agenda with policies of integrity and upholds a stringent code of ethics that values honesty, accuracy, and responsibility. The Evergreen reserves the right to edit submitted material for accuracy, grammar, and length. The Evergreen will not publish any material that falls under the Supreme Court’s definition of unprotected speech: works that are libelous, obscene, or invasions of privacy. For these reasons, the Evergreen does not consider disciplinary actions suitable for print.
All deaths and other personal issues will be printed only with family consent.
